Triggers Are Out of Beta
Over the past few months, we've been quietly testing our trigger system in beta across a handful of gyms. The goal was simple, give gym owners real time visibility into member behavior, and more importantly, give them the ability to act on it immediately.
After gathering feedback and refining how everything works, we're officially moving triggers out of beta.
What Are Triggers?
Triggers are automated alerts based on member activity. Instead of digging through reports or waiting until there's a problem, the system surfaces issues as they happen.
Think of them as your heads up system for things like missed payments, unusual activity, or disengaged members.
The Breakout Feature: Invalid Scan Alerts
One pattern became clear very quickly during testing, invalid scan notifications are extremely valuable.
When a member tries to check in but is denied, whether due to an expired card, failed payment, or inactive membership, you get notified right away. That moment is when the member is most engaged, and it gives you a chance to resolve the issue before it turns into churn.
Instead of chasing down missed payments days later, you can fix it within minutes.
Beyond Invalid Scans: Behavior Based Triggers
While invalid scans were the initial standout, we've expanded the system to support broader behavior tracking.
You can now queue notifications for events like:
- Members who have not checked in for a set period of time
- Repeated invalid scan attempts
- Membership status changes or lapses
- Custom engagement gaps based on your business rules
This allows you to stay proactive instead of reactive.
For example, if a regular member suddenly stops showing up, you can reach out before they cancel. That small touchpoint can make a real difference in retention.
Why This Matters
Most gym software focuses on record keeping. We want ManageMemberships to help you take action.
Triggers turn your data into something usable:
- Faster payment recovery
- Better member retention
- Less manual follow up
- More visibility into what is actually happening day to day
It is not just about knowing what happened, it is about knowing when to act.
What's Next
Moving out of beta means triggers are now stable, faster, and easier to configure.
Next up, we are working on:
- More customization options for trigger conditions
- Smarter notification grouping to reduce noise
- Deeper integrations with messaging and email workflows
Final Thoughts
The biggest takeaway from beta was simple. Speed matters.
The faster you know something is wrong, the easier it is to fix it.
Triggers are designed to give you that edge.
If you are already using ManageMemberships, start experimenting with triggers and see where they can save you time or recover revenue. If you are not using them yet, now is a great time to start.
