ManageMemberships vs PushPress

ManageMemberships is built for owners who want fast daily workflows, a mobile friendly admin experience, and real human support. It includes member management, access control with door access logs, waivers, classes, events, resource booking, CRM pipelines, and automation. A custom branded app is included free on Core, and you can add a full POS without turning your operation into multiple disconnected systems.

PushPress offers a comprehensive platform with multiple products: Core (member management, billing, scheduling), Grow (lead generation and CRM), Train (workout tracking), and a branded member app. Built by gym owners with 200+ years of combined ownership experience, they emphasize AI-powered automation, no long-term contracts, and a free plan option. They serve diverse fitness specializations including CrossFit, martial arts, personal training, and strength facilities.

How to think about this comparison

PushPress offers modular products (Core, Grow, Train, a branded app) with a free plan and processing rates that drop as you upgrade. ManageMemberships includes CRM and automation in the base platform, offers native access control as an $89/mo add-on, with real person support rather than AI-first support.

Why owners switch to ManageMemberships

💰No add-on ladder

PushPress sells its CRM, Grow, separately at $329/mo plus a $699 setup fee, and its branded app at $81–$97/mo. On our $99 Core, CRM, automations and a branded app are included.

🧾Do the processing math

PushPress's free plan charges 4.99% + $0.30 per card payment. "Free" still costs real money once you're billing members every month, and the CRM, branded app and door access are extra on top.

🔐Built‑in door access

PushPress door access runs through partners like Kisi or HybridAF, on Pro and Max. Ours is native and tied to membership status, an $89/mo add-on, $188/mo all-in.

🧰Beyond the CrossFit box

Classes, events, resource booking, waivers, and POS built for gyms, ranges, and studios of any style — not just WOD programming.

📈Automations & CRM included

Email drips and pipelines help you win trials and save cancellations — in the base plan.

The winning conversation is simple. ManageMemberships gives you CRM included in the base platform, native access control from the same vendor, real person support instead of AI-first support, and one all-in processing rate with no separate Stripe fees.

If you want modular products with a free starter option and AI-powered automation, PushPress offers that flexibility with transaction fees that decrease as you upgrade.

Where PushPress wins

PushPress has scale and a genuinely free plan. It says more than 5,000 fitness businesses use it and over a million people have checked in with it, and it was built by gym owners with "a combined 200+ years of ownership experience." Its free tier has "no countdown, no forced upgrade," and every tier includes unlimited members and staff. For a new gym watching every dollar, starting at $0 a month is hard to argue with.

It also publishes its rates and goes deep on training. Processing rates are on the pricing page for every plan, and they drop as you move up: 4.99% + $0.30 on Free, 2.89% on Pro, 2.75% on Max. Train adds workout logging, custom programs and PR tracking for CrossFit-style gyms, and PushPress leans into AI, with an assistant that answers questions about members, attendance, leads and revenue. It offers free migration from Mindbody, Wodify, Zen Planner, GymMaster, Pike13 and Glofox, and says most gyms are live in two to three weeks. If programming is central to your gym, PushPress is built for that.

Where ManageMemberships wins

The full stack costs less. PushPress's CRM, Grow, is $329 a month plus a $699 setup fee, its branded app is $81 to $97 a month, and both sit on top of a paid plan if you want the lower processing rates. On ManageMemberships Core, $99 a month, the CRM pipelines, email and SMS automations and your branded app are all included. Add door access and it's $188 a month.

Lead pipelines come with the base plan: scores, sources, owners and follow-ups on one board.

Door access is native. PushPress offers 24/7 access through partners like Kisi or HybridAF, and only on Pro and Max, with hardware and partner costs not published. ManageMemberships door access is part of the same system as your billing and your app, and the door locks itself the moment a card is declined.

Support is a person, not a queue. PushPress describes itself as "AI-first," and its free plan's support is self-serve resources and AI with a 48-hour response time. Here you talk to the person who built the software. ManageRegister adds a full POS with inventory, barcode scanning and card-on-file charging tied to member profiles, for gyms that sell more than a few shirts.

Compare the setup you'd actually run. A gym on PushPress Pro with Grow and a branded app pays $159 + $329 + $81 to $97, or about $570 to $585 a month, plus $699 to set up Grow. The same gym on ManageMemberships Core pays $99, or $188 with door access. If you only need the basics and want $0 a month to start, PushPress Free does that, at a higher processing rate.

Migration from PushPress

Cards are the easy part. PushPress runs on the gym's own Stripe account, usually under the owner's email, so card tokens can move through Stripe's migration process and members don't re-enter anything. PushPress documents this itself: the receiving platform requests the migration from Stripe, and PushPress says it "won't hold your member data hostage."

Then we bring over the rest. We import your members, plans, billing dates and history, and map your PushPress plans to ManageMemberships plans one to one. If you use Grow, export your leads and contacts from it too, so your pipeline comes with you. If you have a PushPress branded app, it needs 30 days' notice to cancel, so give it once your cutover date is set.

Cutover is where double-billing happens, and we handle it by hand. Your old system stays live until you've checked that every member came across, and you pick the cutover date. Then we cancel each member's old billing individually, timed to land just before their next charge date, so nobody pays twice and nobody has a gap. Most migrations take two to three weeks from start to launch, and migration is included on every plan.
